Medicinal uses:
Flowers are used as carminative diuretic, stimulant and demulcent. Seeds are mucilaginous and given in infusion in gonorrhoea, dysentery and chronic diarrhoea. Roots are used in bowel complaints of children. Leaves juice is mixed with honey and given for the treatment of croup.

Chemical constituents :



Mature plant yields 0.4 to 0.5% essential oil containing Cinnamate 56.67% , l- linalool and terpinene 80.85%. It also contains small amount of cineole, eugenol, sesquiterpenes and d- terpene. Fresh flowering herbs yield essential oil containing alcohols (as linalool).
